Develop and maintain master machining schedule for high volume manufacturer of forged and machined automotive components used in transfer cases and transmissions. Primary responsibility is to schedule machining based on releases, maintain WIP, finished product and raw material inventory, including finished components, and collaborate with operations leadership and forging scheduler. Our plant, which is successful and growing, directly supplies Tier 1 and OEM automotive companies. As our production continues to increase, we are purchasing new equipment this year and anticipate a major expansion in the next few years. We currently run a 5-day, 3-shift operation.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
5 years Production Scheduling experience, including ERP/MRP.
Manufacturing experience required, high volume manufacturing preferred
Must have experience working with customers
Tier 1 automotive, machining experience preferred
APICS Certification preferred
Advanced Excel skills
Must have strong initiative, be a self-starter, adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced culture
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Creates a master schedule that satisfies customer demand with optimum inventory levels and resource utilization.
Ensures that the master schedule can be used for detailed material and capacity planning as well as financial planning.
Analyzes the demand and supply balance at the product family and master schedule levels, determining out-of-balance conditions, identifying alternatives and recommending corrective action.
Anticipates supply problems and implement resolution working jointly with the plant and the demand control teams.
Provides alternatives and costs to production schedules based on change in demand as well as seek approvals. Manage costs in autonomy within the agreed budget.
Seeks ways to reduce internal lead times as well as lead times to customers through performance improvement projects working directly with the plant and with the sales teams.
Maintains scheduling parameters such as, manufacturing calendar, lot sizes, safety stocks, delivery times, and order file data for all master scheduled items.
Develops and maintains shipment and revenue forecasts.
Confers with Production staff to resolve problems affecting production schedules.
Generates clear and easy to understand charts, graphs, and matrixes to convey information to Manufacturing staff.
