Tekfor is a precision automotive supplier that manufactures components for transfer cases and transmissions that are in millions of vehicles currently on the road and our footprint continues to expand.  Our sole US facility located in Northeast Ohio near Cleveland & Akron/Canton is modest in size where everyone knows everyone, and we are a profitable, successful business, which is growing to meet customer needs. Our 200-employee high volume forging & machining manufacturing plant produces 10 million steel parts a year with 90 CNC lathes, mills, drills, grinders, balancers, broaches, and spline rolling machines,  along with automation technology and collaborative robots with an expected 50% increase over the next few years.

 

Manage machining operations and manufacturing engineering. Direct reports include production supervision and manufacturing engineering department – 80 CNC operators and 10 support staff.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Ten (10) years’ experience in high-volume CNC machining manufacturing
  • Strong track record in production management and manufacturing engineering
  • Outstanding leadership & interpersonal skills required

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Journeyman machinist with CNC programming capabilities
  • Experience with steel-forged products
  • Experience in Tier 1 high volume automotive operations
  • Continuous improvement experience required – Lean/Six Sigma
  • Strategic planning experience in methods comparable to Hoshin Planning/X-Matrix
  • Project management experience

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage 5 day/3 shift machining operation and manufacturing engineering for multiple work cells
  • Responsible for daily performance, productivity, cost, safety, OEE, employee relations, and the other KPI’s on our scorecard
  • Collaborate closely with quality, logistics, forging, maintenance, program management, and other engineering functions.
  • Leverage process improvement methodologies to maintain production levels, meet quality requirement and meet customer needs
  • Implement Lean manufacturing principles
  • Maintain a clean workplace through the utilization of 5S
  • Maintains good working relationship with customers, vendors and external technical support
  • Responsible for production planning in coordination with scheduling and sales
  • Collaborate with HR on staffing and responsible for onboarding, training, development and performance management
  • Interface with external tooling vendors and/or our internal tool room
