LEAN Engineer Automotive (m/w/d)

We have a 200- employee high volume forging & machining manufacturing plant with a 3-shift five-day operation.  It is a modest size facility where everyone knows everyone and we are a profitable, successful business, which is growing to meet customer needs.

Develop and implement lean activities; deploy visual management standards and continuous improvement monitoring tools. Design and develop processes to optimize efficient process flow, process capability, labor efficiencies, and product yields throughout the plant by reducing cycle time, inventory and waste.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in the deployment of LEAN activities in Tier 1 automotive component machining operations
  • S. Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience using data analysis to drive problem solving and continuous improvement through the application of Lean and/or Six Sigma tools and concepts
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification/Kaizen Facilitator certification
  • Experience using Lean Methodologies (e.g., 5S, Labor Utilization and Efficiency, Value Stream Mapping, PFEP)
  • Strong track record leading cross-functional teams in improvement activities

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement lean activities; deploy visual management standards and continuous improvement monitoring tools
  • Design and develop processes to optimize efficient process flow, process capability, labor efficiencies, and product yields throughout the plant by reducing cycle time, inventory and waste.
  • Implement ergonomic improvements for manual operations.
  • Plan and implement changes to production floor layout to improve product flow and efficiency.
  • Aid in development of standard hours to determine production capacities and staffing requirements for each department and product family.
  • Lead continuous improvement programs (Kaizen, SWI, etc.)
  • Provide input on manufacturing methods, equipment and tooling requirements for each product.
  • Identify production problems and develop corrections and improvements to plant efficiency, quality and safety.
  • Lead the efforts to standardize the production processes and methods.
  • Determine and plan facilities improvements to meet the needs of production and reduce operating costs.
  • Educate, mentor and coach others on process improvement tools, techniques and their application. Facilitate training to drive culture change.
  • Monitor and measure the realization of the benefits from improvement activities
  • Provide technical expertise and direction to co-workers and coordinate their activities on assigned projects.
